How to cook Sarciadong Daing
Sarciadong Daing is a classic Filipino dish that combines the salty and savory flavors of dried fish with the tangy and sweet taste of tomatoes, onions, and chilies. It is a simple yet flavorful dish that can be enjoyed anytime, whether as a hearty breakfast, a satisfying lunch, or a delicious dinner.
The main ingredient in Sarciadong Daing is dried fish, commonly called “daing” in the Philippines. Daing is a popular way of preserving fish in the country and has been part of Filipino cuisine for centuries. The fish is usually salted and dried under the sun, which gives it a distinct flavor and texture. Sarciado, on the other hand, means “sautéed with tomato and egg.” Sarciadong Daing, therefore, is a dish made by sautéing dried fish with tomato, egg, and other ingredients.
Sarciadong Daing is often served with steamed rice and sliced fresh tomatoes or cucumber, which helps balance the dish’s bold flavors. Some people also like to add a drizzle of vinegar or a squeeze of calamansi (Filipino lime) to cut through the dish’s richness.
So if you’re looking for a tasty and easy-to-make Filipino dish, try Sarciadong Daing. You can create a flavorful and hearty meal that satisfies your hunger and taste buds with just a few ingredients.
Ingredients of Sarciadong Daing: |
Sarciadong Daing is made by first soaking the Daing dried fish in water for several minutes to soften it and remove some of its saltiness. The fish is then pan-fried until crispy and golden brown on both sides and set aside. Next, the tomatoes, onions, and chilies are sautéed in the same pan with some garlic and oil until they become fragrant and slightly caramelized. The fried fish is then added to the pan and mixed with the tomato-onion-chili mixture. Then at the final stage, beaten eggs are poured over the top and cooked until set, creating a delicious and protein-rich sauce that binds all the flavors together.
