How to make Kangkong Salad
Filipino Kangkong Salad Recipe is another original Filipino dish. Kangkong is also known as River Spinach, it is a common green leafy vegetable in the Philippines.
Kangkong, a common ingredient in many Filipino dishes. It is a usual leafy vegetable in fish or meat sinigang recipes. Another popular native dish among Filipinos using kangkong is Abobong Kangkong and the famous appetizer Kangkong Fritters.

Kangkong Salad Ingredients |
- ยผ kilo Kangkong or River Spinach
- 2 small tomatoes (sliced into rings)
- 1 medium red onions (sliced into rings)
- 1 Red Salted egg (sliced)
- 1 medium cucumber (sliced into rings)
- Vinegar Dressing:
- ยฝ cups vinegar
- 1 small head of garlic (finely minced)
- ยผ teaspoon Sugar
- a pinch of salt
- ยผ teaspoon black pepper (freshly grounded)
Kangkong Salad Preparation Instructions: |
- Clean the Kangkong, remove the leaves then wash thoroughly.
- Blanch the Kangkong leaves, set aside.
- In a wide platter, arrange kangkong.
- Top with sliced tomatoes, onions and cucumber.
- In a small bowl, combine vinegar, minced garlic, Sugar salt and black pepper.
- Serve kangkong with vinegar dressing.

Kangkong is actually River Spinach, check the wiki definition here. If you can't find it in your area you can replace it with Spinach.

Are you familiar with "Ganas"? it is the thinner version of Kangkong, and it is better to use for salad making...
