Health Benefits of Soba Noodles - Nowadays, it is all about healthy eating, right? Well, why not take the healthy eating as far as your noodle cravings?   Fortunately, there are healthy noodles. One healthy alternative is Soba noodles. Unlike your typical noodles, buckwheat is the main ingredient in soba noodles.

Because of buckwheat, soba noodles have a ton of nutritional value and health benefits over the other options. Read on to find out why soba noodles should have space on your shelves.

1] Promotes cardiovascular health

Buckwheat is rich in flavonoids, specifically routine. Rutin reduces bad cholesterol (LDL), which health experts associate with heart disorders. Additionally, rutin helps with the formation of good cholesterol (HDL), which promotes cardiovascular health.

Buckwheat is also magnesium-rich. Magnesium is a mineral compound that helps in the relaxation of blood vessels, promoting blood flow. Good blood flow increases the delivery of nutrients and achieves the optimal blood pressure.

As long you do not have diabetes you should not care about blood sugar levels, right? No, wrong!

Stay with high blood sugar levels for a long time and you risk complications such as:

  • Thiamin: helps in neurotransmission, digestion, and the metabolism of adenosine triphosphate (ATP).
  • Magnesium: improves cardiovascular and digestive functions, helps in the recovery and growth of muscles and helps the body fight stress.
  • Manganese: helps in the synthesis of hormones and proteins that assist in blood clotting.
  • Folic acid: helps in the formation of new cells.

It sounds far fetched associating noodles with weight loss. But remember, soba noodles contain buckwheat, which is not a cereal grain. It is a seed that looks like cereal grain (pseudo-cereal). So, it does not have some negatives of cereals such as fat content. The lack of fat means, buckwheat has fewer calories. The first rule of weight loss management is eating low-calorie foods.

The main advantage of buckwheat is that it contains lysine, an essential amino acid absent or occurring in small quantities in plant-based protein sources.
