Creamy Halo Halo Recipe

Halo-halo (from Tagalog word halò, “mix”) is a popular Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and milk to which are added various boiled sweet beans and fruits, and served cold in a tall glass or bowl.  Generally, condensed milk or evaporated milk is used instead of fresh milk, due to the tropical climate of the Philippines.

Hash Browns Pinoy Style Ingredients:

  • hash-browns.jpg 4 cups grated kamote (sweet potato)
  • 2 8g sachet MAGGI MAGIC SARAP
  • 1 1/4 cups grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 250ml brick NESTLÉ All Purpose Cream
  • 1/2 cup fried minced bacon
  • 2 pieces eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups Japanese bread crumbs
  • cooking oil for deep frying

Binignit, benignit or guinataan originated from Cebu province. Binignit is a warm root crop and fruit stew.

Cebuano Binignit Ingredients:

  • binignit.jpg 1 pc white gabi (taro root) you can substitute cassava if available, cubed
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 pcs yellow camote (sweet potatoes), cubed
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 pc ube (purple yam), cubed
  • 4 tbsps landang or tapioca
  • 4 pcs ripe Saba (plantain), sliced
  • 6 pcs ripe Langka (jackfruit)
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 1 cup coconut milk, diluted with water
