How to cook the famous Filipino street food Tokneneng
Tokneneng Recipe is a hard boiled chicken eggs, dipped in orange colored batter and deep fried in oil. Tokneneng is a very popular, inexpensive, easy to prepare and extremely addictive street food found throughout the Philippines. Its perfect dip is vinegar with crushed garlic and chopped red chili.
Tokneneng is traditionally made with chicken or duck eggs, while Kwek kwek is made with quail eggs or “itlog ng pugo”.
- 6 pieces chicken eggs, hard boiled
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup annatto seeds (atsuete)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 2 cups Canola cooking oil
